Crystal Flavola (pronounced flay-VOE-luh) hails from Austin, Texas and has been pumping out original songs since 2005. Their Austin performance venues include Saxon Pub, Jovitas, Egos, Nasty's, the Posse East, Pecan Street Festival, Hyde Park Theatre and the Blue Theater. They've also been featured in the Music at the Gap concert series opening for Grammy nominated Caroline Aiken. Guitar and an Ashtray and Wild Child, two songs from their EP, have received airplay on Austin's KUT 90.5 FM. Happy Town, another song from their EP, was solicited for inclusion on the sampler CD for the October 2007 issue of Pop Culture Press. They're currently recording tracks for their first full CD which is scheduled for release in early 2008.

Speaking of theatre, most of Flavola's members have deep connections to Austin's nationally acclaimed theatre scene. Singer/songwriter/guitarist David Jones is an award-winning actor and director who is currently taking a break from the stage to focus on "the band thing." Singer Katherine Catmull is a highly respected actress and playwright who recently performed one of the most challenging roles of her career: Winnie in Samuel Beckett's Happy Days. Singer Andrea Skola performs, produces and directs plays for Shrewd Productions which recently opened Io: A Myth About You to critical acclaim. Jimy and Gordon Gunn (bass and lead guitar) are the diabolical duo also known as The Gunn Brothers who have designed sound for more plays than you can shake a spear at and have the awards to prove it.

The remaining band members have wisely chosen a more stable path. Keyboard player Brad (B-rad Puddin' Son) Johnston is pursuing a masters degree in music composition at the University of Texas. Drummer Mark Baram (Bam Bam) not only keeps a hell of a beat but can also cure your ailing BMW.

The band is currently taking a break from performing to develop new material and record tracks for their first full-length CD. Along with theatre, the band has a bit of a music resume, too.
