Maybe it's their theatre background or maybe it's songwriter David Jones' Midwestern small town roots, either way Crystal Flavola's sound is not easily pigeon-holed. They've been compared with everyone from REM to the New Christie Minstrels. The tightest fitting label seems to be indie folk-rock but you'd probably get indignant looks from members of all those clubs.
